Cardio vs weight training
When balancing in comparison between cardio versus weight training for weight loss, it is basically hands down for cardio when weight loss is in view. Weight training is definitely a great form of exercise that can get your heart rate going, especially when you are performing sets with a lighter weight and higher reps.
In all reality, it would be your best bet to perform cardio and weight training coupled together for your training program for weight loss, but when it comes to comparing the two for which is best for weight loss, cardio is the source of exercise that will need to be your main stay for weight loss, because it revs up the heart rate and increases perspiration at a faster rate than weight training alone.
Should you do both?
Some people ask whether if they should include both cardio and weight training losing weight, but I simply suggest that it is basically up to what your goals are. If your goal is strictly losing weight, then your best bet would be to follow a rigorous cardio program to speed up your metabolism and increase your sweat rate to promote a better weight loss plan.
Some people want to get things rolling by losing weight and toning up their muscles, for such a plan as this I would suggest following a cardio and weight-training program. The cardio will promote weight loss but at the same time if you are incorporating weight training in your workout, this will have and effect on building and toning your muscles as well.
If your goal is to tone up your muscles along with weight loss, I would recommend for a weight training program to include light to moderate weight with a higher rep schedule such as 20 to 25 reps.
Training at home vs the gym
There are advantages to training at home, as well their are advantages to training at the gym, it basically comes down to personal preference and what’s most economical for you. First I have a list of advantages to training at a gym, this is just a general guide but their may be other advantages that come to your mind that I haven’t listed.

- motivation from others
- expertise from staff
- someone to spot for you when necessary
- less distractions from phone and TV
- less likely to stop early and sit on the couch
Next I have a list of advantages to training at home, this can be viewed as simply a guideline to follow but if you have other advantages that come to mind, you can always add to this list.

- no gym expenses
- no weight equipment tied up by other users
- a less noisy environment
- freedom for your choice of music
- you can train any time of the day
- you can train in as little clothes as you desire, LOL
As I have mentioned, their would be no gym expenses when training at home, although their will be the initial fee of your home gym workout equipment, but once you have simply paid that initial fee for your weight equipment their will be no need to pay any additional expenses like a yearly membership.
Your personal preference
It basically comes down to what your personal preference for training is when it comes to losing weight, but as the main recommendation for weight loss I would suggest cardio, because it gets the heart rate going at a higher speed and will continue to keep your metabolism going at a higher pace for a longer afterwards.
Getting into shape doesn’t need to be a chore
Many people find it difficult to start up a workout program and stick with it, but it doesn’t need to become a chore or something dreaded to stick with, you can simply add variety to your workout and you can do other things to make your workouts more exciting, for example, having somebody to train with you can take the ease of tension off of your daily workouts.
Fitting training into your schedule
Fitting a training schedule into your daily schedule shouldn’t need to be a drudgery, some people find it best to work out first thing in the morning when they have more energy, but this system doesn’t work for everyone. Some people have a schedule where they need to be off to work early enough in the morning where they simply don’t have time to fit a workout into their scheme of things.
If you are one of these people that don’t have the time to work out first thing in the morning, possibly you can get your workouts in later on in the day such as the late afternoon or early evening. But which ever schedule you take up that fits with your daily routine best, I would suggest that you determine when that time is that works best for you and then stick with that time.
If you have a tendency of not having a specific time to do your work out every day, you might have a tendency of falling away from the program. If you have a specific time set that you do your training every day, you will be more likely to stick with it in the long run.
