How big can these massively muscled men and women grow? Back in the day when Arnold Schwarzenegger was in his competition reign, he had some pretty huge arms.

Look at how big the guys are today compared to what Arnold Schwarzenegger was back in his day, the guys today just seem to be even bigger yet, how can muscles grow that big? and how much bigger will these bodybuilders in the future get?

It can be a safe assumption to say that many of these top trained athletes are using steroids, or could you agree that maybe these days the supplementation is getting better?

There can be many various reasons as to why today’s top bodybuilding competitors have increasingly profound muscle size compared to the days of old.

Today we are going to be delving into some reasons why some of these guys are getting as big as they are, aside from the unfortunate use of steroids among some of them.

It has always been a known fact that many bodybuilders have found themselves wrapped up in using illegal drugs such as steroids. But this isn’t the case with all bodybuilders. It is believed by many that every bodybuilder has used such drugs, but I disagree, sure, there is plenty of use going on behind the scenes, but not everyone has failed to show integrity these days.

Often times, you can tell who is on the juice and who is not. There are certain characteristics that will give it away every time, such as the overly sized muscularity, along with vascularity. This is not to say that you can’t get built without the use of steroids, but there is only so big that you can get naturally.

Natural alternatives will add to your muscularity, aside from hard training, proper diet and taking in the right amounts of it. Naturally you will want to get in enough carbohydrates, typically 2 grams per pound of body weight and enough protein to build muscle, usually around 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight.

Another factor to take into consideration is supplementation. Some people might think that their world is going to come to an end if they don’t have supplementation to go along with their diet, some people place too much importance on supplementation, although it is a necessary ingredient to add if you are planning on building good quality muscle.

But even though supplementation can be a necessary ingredient in building a large muscular frame, you still can’t make up for the importance of eating enough lean foods. So what are some other reasons why these guys can pack on such an impressive amount of muscle aside from hard training, eating right and supplementation?

The subjects that I have covered so far have been training hard, diet and supplementation, but there are other things that can have an impact on getting the most out of your training like the big guys that you see today on the bodybuilding stage.

Below I have a list of some elements that can have an impact on the results that you see in the gym.

  • Goals

Goals are a necessity if you are interested in achieving anything of importance to you, without a goal it will be difficult to concentrate on the point that you are trying to reach.

  • Vision

It is important to have vision of your destination in mind, if you can become fixated on seeing yourself achieving your goal before you have actually reached it, you will have much better odds of actually achieving your goal.

  • Never say die attitude

You will never reach any goal in life if you give up too easily.

  • Sleep

Some people believe that they need to spend endless hours in the gym, but those who do that are more than likely over trained. It isn’t the time that you spend in the gym that your muscles will grow, it is during your sleeping hours is when your muscles will do their growing, this is why it is necessary to get 8-10 hours of sleep per night.

  • Genetics

Unfortunately genetics play a role in how well your muscles grow and how big you get. If you are someone who has a hard time putting weight on, you may find it more difficult to pack on a major amount of muscle.
